some skills about the chiral columns selecting, application and maintenance. The visit has received warm welcome.
We find out that a lot of customers are interested in
chiral column products, so we specially invited "chiral column
leader" Daicel to do some training for us and our customers.

The technical seminar is mainly presented by Daicel
director Lilin Cao. Director Cao has shared some skills about the chiral columns
selecting, application and maintenance, giving lots of examples, and also
shared some glitches solutions.
Now we pick up a few representative customers’ questions here:
Q1: what’s Daicel various
columns’ application?
A: Polysaccharide
derivatives chiral column is for separation of an amide group, an aromatic ring
substituents, carbonyl nitro, cyano, hydroxyl, amino group-containing compound,
and amino derivatives.
Proteins chiral column is
suitable for the analysis of water-soluble pharmaceuticals, pesticides.
As for the special chiral column, you can select the
appropriate column depending on the separation requirements.
Q2: The solution contains
ethyl acetate, can the sample be analyzed?
A: Ethyl acetate can’t be analyzed directly, it will damage
the column. You can evaporate it to remove ethyl acetate ingredient, redissolve
, then analyze.
Q3: Are there any rules
between compound’s configuration and the peaks’ order?
A: We can’t simply distinguish which is S configuration or R
configuration, we need to see the force between the sample ingredient and the stationary
phase.
Q4: How much acidic or
alkaline additives is suitable added into the sample? Will it damage the column?
A: In the normal phase chiral column optimization,
sometimes acidic or alkaline sample is trailing in the neutral eluent. Then we
can added acidic or alkaline additives. The amount of additive is usually 0.1%
(by volume), and there are instructions for reference. Using additives in the
specified range is no damage.
Only a ppt presentation? How can it be! We also go deep
into the various laboratories, sharing some tips about how to use the chiral
columns with users. After visit, Daicel picked up the damaged columns back to
their laboratory, and helped to find out the cause of the error.
